Do I need to do both blood work and ultrasound every monitoring visit? Why?

Yes, you need both blood work and ultrasound to monitor both how your follicles/oocytes (eggs) are growing in size; this is done by ultrasound. The quality of the follicles and when you are close to ovulation and retrieval is done by your bloodwork.
