Does acupuncture really work for infertility?

1 answer

Research has proven that acupuncture has a number of positive effects on fertility including:

  • Increased blood flow to the uterus and reproductive organs
  • Improved uterine lining
  • Decrease in the pain and discomfort associated with fertility medication
  • Decrease in stress levels for individuals undergoing fertility treatment

It is suggested that acupuncture be done in the months prior to IVF treatment in order to prepare the body for the procedure.  However, it suggested that acupuncture not be done immediately prior to an egg retrieval or embryo transfer.
At New Hope Fertility Center, we believe in a holistic approach to fertility. It is our belief that we can achieve the best results for patients by supplementing as opposed to replacing their body’s natural reproductive system.  Holistic approaches such as acupuncture as fertility treatment can increase success rates. Acupuncture can help reduce stress and increase the chances of becoming pregnant.
While undergoing treatments with New Hope, be sure to ask us about our highly recommended acupuncturist.
