What can I do to improve the quality of my egg/embryo?

2 answers

There are a couple of factors that dictate egg/embryo quality.  The first thing is age.  So, as you get older, egg quality tends to decrease-this has to do with your OVARIAN RESERVE.  With a diminished ovarian reserve, diagnosis is the best way to preserve the quality of your eggs.  This is why we always suggest freezing your eggs sooner rather than later.  Also, hormones dictate egg quality.  Some of these are naturally occurring, and some can be taken with the assistance of a doctor during a reproductive treatment.  DHEA supplements may be taken as well and have demonstrated positive results in enhancing egg/embryo quality. CoQ10 can also help as a supplement, especially in conjunction with DHEA.  Both of these can be regulated during your treatment.  Finally, there are a number of cutting edge techniques in study around the world including Egg Rejuvenation.  These hold promise, although they are not yet available.  In preparation, I recommend freezing your eggs so that in a few years, when technology is available, you have the youngest, best egg possible.
